The days are getting colder and the sunlight is weaker, but the endless summer of Southern California goes on. In the six months since I last updated this blog I have been very busy. Blogging has been far from my mind until now.

New Project: “_” (space)
I have a new project that deserves an online presence. For now I am calling this project ” ” (space). The idea is simple, every Monday I will work with, collaborate, facilitate, and or curate a show or art work in the relatively undefined territory between my studio and the studio across the alley.

Why
For now I am intentionally keeping this idea as loosely defined as possible for one reason: I want to discover the theoretical edges of this sort of project as art practice. What happens for example when an artist asks for collaborators? Do participants become art objects? Can curating be art practice? Can art me re-mixed? Why is relational aesthetics a dirty word?

These are only a couple of the questions I am considering, with part of the objective of this project being to learn what other questions arise. In many ways this is a continuation of a project that started in a class with Dan Devening called “Thinking About Space”.

So far I have had two participants. Both are current MFA/ART first years at CalArts. Below is the record of activity.
